Dr. Beth A. Brooks, PhD, RN, FACHE and Paul Skiem, MBA, LCS have decades of executive level leadership experience in the healthcare industry and beyond. Highly accomplished, highly regarded, senior executives with a unique combination of skills in innovation consulting, strategic planning and coaching.

Beth A. Brooks, PH.D., RN, FACHE
Dr. Brooks is a trusted and accomplished healthcare leadership advisor, empowering the next generation of leadership. With a unique blend of experience within the healthcare industry, in both nursing and academic administration as well as employment branding and marketing, Dr. Brooks delivers a thoughtful and comprehensive perspective. 

With the education to back her experience, Dr. Brooks earned a Doctor of Philosophy in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master of Science in nursing administration from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Valparaiso University. She has been published numerous times and is the creator of the Brooks' Quality of Nursing Work Life Survey(C). 

A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, she serves on the Board of the American Assembly for Men in Nursing, as chair of the National Council for the College of Nursing at Valparaiso University and on the Advisory Board for the Forum for Shared Governance. She is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow Alumnus, 2012 Cohort and winner of the 2017 American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) Mentor Award. 

Both practical and impassioned, Dr. Brooks is a firm believer and contributor to innovation and welcomes open-minded thinking coupled with rigorous research to help propel future leaders in the industry.

PAUL T. SKIEM, MBA, LCS
Paul is a practiced and proven HR executive, with decades of experience implementing HR strategies and operations. From comprehensive strategy to continuous innovation, Paul pairs wisdom with instinct to move clients forward. 

As Chief Human Resources Officer and System Senior Vice President of Human Resources at the former Presence Health he oversaw operations at both the system and business unit levels related to labor relations, employee benefits and wellness, executive and staff employee level compensation, employee recruitment, retention and engagement, employee health, HRIS, and organizational development and education--and was staff to the Human Resources Committee of the Presence Health Board of Directors.

Paul gained credibility and hands-on experience as Director, VP and SVP of Human Resources at Resurrection Healthcare and Rush University Medical Center in a variety of HR management roles. He has served on the Boards of Directors of Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, Holy Family Medical Center, Presence Life Connections, the Arthur Merkle and Clara Knipprath Nursing Home, and the Nazarethville Home for Aging Seniors.

Paul now serves on the North Park University School of Business and Non-Profit Management Advisory Board. He received his Master’s degree, graduating with High Honors as a Hotchkiss Scholar, from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, and holds his Bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University.


I was honored to work with Paul at Resurrection Health Care for eight years when he was SVP of Human Resources. Paul is a very unique HR officer that works extremely well with health care operations, in fact the best I’ve seen in my four decades in the industry. We had faced many difficulties - situations such as major downsizing at one of our acute hospitals that converted to an LTACH, fully funding our pension liabilities, and developing the first thoughtful system-wide efficiency targets - throughout Paul always had a clear vision of a brighter future for the organization while maintaining a deep empathy for the staff affected.
